Can antitrust authorities address the competition problems created by tech giants?

On 17.10.2018, the University of Haifa welcomed Makan Delrahim, the Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, for a discussion on how antitrust authorities can address competition challenges posed by tech giants.

Delrahim highlighted that data, despite its scale, may not always be a barrier to entry, as it is widely available and most has a short shelf-life. He questioned whether dominant firms should be required to share data with smaller competitors, emphasizing that the digital market poses unique challenges and requires nuanced approaches to antitrust enforcement.
