Prof. iur. Andreas Heinemann

Prof. iur. Andreas Heinemann is a Professor of Commercial, Economic, and European Law at the University of Zurich and a permanent visiting professor at the University of Lausanne. After studying economics and law, he was awarded the Diplôme Supérieur de Droit Comparé from the Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé in Strasbourg and the Diplôme International d’Administration Publique (DIAP) from the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), then in Paris. He passed his bar exam in Berlin and completed his PhD and Habilitation at the University of Munich’s Faculty of Law. He was a professor at the University of Lausanne from 2001 to 2007. While maintaining a teaching mandate in Lausanne, he has been teaching economic and European law at the University of Zurich since 2007. Prof. Heinemann’s research focuses on European, Swiss, and international economic law with a special interest in competition law and intellectual property law. He was a Senior Global Research Fellow at New York University School of Law and a visiting professor at the universities of Haifa, Uppsala, Wellington, and New Orleans (Tulane University School of Law). He is a member of the board of the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich. Until 2022, he was a member of the OECD Competition Committee’s Bureau. He was also a member of the Swiss Competition Commission between 2011 and 2022, serving as its president between 2018 and 2022
