Prof. Miriam Marcowitz-Bitton

Prof. Miriam Marcowitz-Bitton is a Professor and the Raoul Wallenberg Chair in Human Rights at the Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Law. She researches and teaches in the fields of intellectual property, law and technology, and property law. Prof. Marcowitz-Bitton has published books and articles for more than a decade and edited academic books, including an interdisciplinary volume on intellectual property and a retirement volume in honor of Justice Elyakim Rubinstein. Her primary areas of work are in civil law, encompassing property law, contract law, unjust enrichment, and tort law. Her studies include EU copyright policy; patent policy in the U.S. and Israel; copyright licensing in the online environment; comparative government-data commercialization policy; and patent protection for life-saving vaccines during pandemics, particularly COVID-19. Prof. Marcowitz-Bitton has received academic awards, including the Aharon Barak Prize, the Zeltner Prize, and the Bar-Ilan University Rector’s Award for Scientific Innovation
