Prof. Rochelle C. Dreyfuss

Rochelle C. Dreyfuss is the Pauline Newman Professor of Law Emerita at New York University School of Law and co-Director of NYU’s Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy, a member of the American Law Institute (ALI), and a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP). She is a graduate of Wellesley College (B.A.), the University of California, Berkeley (M.S.), and Columbia University School of Law (J.D.). Before teaching at NYU, Professor Dreyfuss clerked for Wilfred Feinberg in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Warren Burger at the U.S. Supreme Court. With Jane Ginsburg and François Dessemontet, she was a Reporter on the ALI Project on Intellectual Property: Principles Governing Jurisdiction, Choice of Law, and Judgments in Transnational Disputes. Her writings include Advanced Introduction to International Patent Law (with Margo Bagley); Balancing Wealth and Health: The Battle over Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines in Latin America (with César Rodríguez-Garavito); and A Neofederalist Vision of TRIPS: Building a Resilient International Intellectual Property System (with Graeme Dinwoodie). She is a co-editor of numerous volumes, including The Oxford Handbook of Intellectual Property Law (with Justine Pila) and The Law and Theory of Trade Secrecy (with Katherine Strandburg). She has served on committees of the National Academies of Sciences dealing with intellectual property law, a National Institute of Health Advisory Committee on genetics and health, and the Intellectual Property Section of the American Association of Law Schools.
